Work covered
Pupils discussed on STI & STD with their control by assisting pupils to use chat activity and write activity to write different types of STIs. The lesson was very interesting to pupils. It only took 40 minutes. We had 12 laptops which were very few to pupils because 4 pupils were using 1 laptop and one teacher handling 6 groups. We were two volunteers, one teacher and 48 pupils.
Bukokholo primary

We introduced them to computer by evaluating other classes that is 6,7, and 8who were to teach std five on how to use OX Laptop. As the teacher was giving instructions those pupils were helping std 5 to open a computer [Laptop] and to switch on a laptop while volunteers were walking around to see. They used write activity to define computer, types of computers and identification of letters and signs on the keyboard. We had 52 pupils and the lesson took 80 minutes and we were having 15 laptops where by 6 pupils were sharing one laptop while 2 volunteers observing what pupils are doing.
Butonge primary

The teacher introduced turtle art that was on construction of different figures and angles. We showed them how to construct and they also did on laptops. There were 44 pupils, 2 volunteers 2 teachers and 15 laptops where by the lesson took 80minutes.

Kibeu primary school

We continued with write activity –drawing of a table and filled it. After that they also did the record activity by taking photos and recorded songs with HIV massages on XO video. The lesson took 80minutes and pupils were 36 in number. The lesson was very interest on pupils and teachers. We had 12 laptops and pupils were sharing 3 per laptop, 2 volunteers helping pupils and a teacher giving instructions.
Butonge primary school

The teacher told them to construct angles e.g right angle triangle, acute angle and squares by use of turtle art on XO laptop. They used this activity to combine with calculate activity to calculate areas of the angles. This has helped them to enjoy learning mathematics. Pupils were 36, 12 laptops 3 per laptop and 2 volunteers one teacher. Teachers in that school appreciated the project for motivating the pupils to like maths by using XO laptop
Bukokholo primary school

In these classes we taught them the relationship between HIV and TB. They named the symptoms of HIV and how it can be spread. They also named symptoms of TB; coughing getting slim etc. The following activities were used; chat, write, paint and record activities.

In the morning we introduced pupils to paint activity which was very hard for them to draw by there own. The volunteers assisted them to draw patterns and showed them how to use a pen, brush and rubber. pupils were 46 and we had 15 laptops so 3-4 were sharing one laptop.
Afternoon we were at Kibeu primary school and we had std 7. They used write activity to draw table and write ways of getting HIV and TB and how they spread by inserting them in the table. Pupils were 30, 15 laptops 2volunteers and one teacher.

The class started morning, we introduced them to chat activity where pupils tried to exchange ideas and how to send messages of AIDS to different groups on XO laptop. 3volunteers showed them the procedure of sending the messages while the teacher was explaining. In that activity pupils knew how to write correct spelling of words and how to chat with people in English. They were 30 pupils 15laptops 2 per laptop.
Afternoon at Butonge primary school in std, 7 west. We revised turtle art by constructing right angled triangle, rectangle where by they bisected it to get two triangles. We did so because the first round they didn’t understood. They also constructed a semi-circle and calculated the % profit. Pupils were 36 18 laptops 2 per laptop while 3volunteers and one teacher. Pupils enjoyed the session by asking questions on turtle art activity.
Butonge primary school

They did write activity by formatting what they have typed that is there names for example; increasing font size, coloring, numbering and changing font. They drew table and filled it with names-since it was a math program me there was need for table.
Afternoon at Butonge primary school in class 6, continuation of paint activity on XO laptop by use of tools pencil and brush. Pupils drew some diagrams and painted them. On use of shapes on paint activity, pupils were interested in drawing houses and chose suitable colors. It attracted learners on how to choose colors for good / attractive house. We had 15 laptops, 30 pupils 2per laptop, 1 teacher and 3volunteers.
Kibeu primary school

Class: 8
We perfected learners on keyboarding. They wrote an essay with proper punctuation i.e use of coma, question mark, full stops and positioning other signs. We had 34 pupils 18 laptops and one teacher with 3voluntteers.
ACK Butonge primary school

Class: std 6
We perfected on keyboard. They wrote some statements with well punctuation marks. Learners have mastered the keys on keyboard they can only write without looking on it.

LAUNCHING THE OLPC PROGRAM AT MISANGA
On morning I Rose Wekesa was sent by the manager director of the project to go to Misanga Friends primary school to be offered a chance to introduce the project in the school.
I went in school and got the Headmaster of the school and talked to him how the project is by explaining the importance of the project. Then I talked about HIV/AIDS and how we can educate pupils on it and its effects to people. After that I talked about lessons to computer and how we can help pupils to operate computers and know the advantages of it. The Head teacher was interested on my talking and the project programs.
At noon we went their as a team and introduced all pupils to computer by looking at them and knowing its work.
We had the manager of the project, two teachers and two volunteers.

The following activities were covered;
-We organized the class by grouping the pupils in groups according to the number of laptops. Pupils were grouped in 15 groups and each group having 2 pupils others three.
-We did the introduction to computer to them and showed them the computers before they wrote /type them in a laptop. On write activity they defined computer, types of computers, parts of computer and their work. After that they did the following on write activity; typing there names, highlighted, bolded, italized, underlined, colored and increased the font size. On keyboard they mastered the keys/buttons by knowing where they are located. They also inserted the table and did the copying and pasting on the same.
-last they did record activity; they took there photos and recorded songs and poems concerning HIV/AIDS.
3 volunteers and 1 teacher.

Pupils were assembled in class and were arranged in groups of four per laptop. After that we introduced them to computer by definition, parts of computer, types of computer and their work. By use of write activity, they wrote their names ,highlighted , bolded, italize, underlined, colored and increased the font size. They learned about HIV/AIDS and its effects on human life. This helped them to learn how they can carry out themselves and know how to live with peo0ple living with AIDS. One teacher and three volunteers.

The pupils were arranged in class and we introduced ourselves to them and the work we do in the project. They sat in a group of three sharing one laptop.
The following activities were done; we introduced them to computer by defining it and explaining its parts with their functions. They used write activity to write their names and they did the following; highlight, bold, italic underline, color, and increased font size. On their names they did numbering by using alphabetical letters and numbers. We had one teacher and 4 volunteers.

In that class, pupils were more than the laptops in number and this led to some pupils did not even touch the laptop and less concentration was observed.
Afternoon we went back to class 8 and introduced them to record activity. On that activity we showed them how to take photos while the teacher was giving out instructions. Pupils were very happy about the activity and it made them to learn more about how to construct the poems and songs concerning AIDS. Pupils recorded the songs about AIDS and listened to them too. After that they repeated write activity to master the keys on keyboard by writing the effects of having HIV/AIDS. We had one teacher and 4 volunteers.

In the afternoon we had class eight and they repeated write by inserting table using write activity. After that they typed their names in the table and colored, increased the font size, changed the font, bolded and made it italic. They also copied and pasted on the same. 1 teacher three volunteers.

Afternoon we went to Misanga Secondary school and launched the program too. After that we were given some students from different classes to be introduced to computer. We introduced to them and started the following activities; showed them how to open the laptop and to switch on. After that we asked them to name the parts that they are seeing on the laptop. They named all parts that are visible. We told them to open the write activity and started to type there names. After that they did the formatting on it by increasing font size, bold, italic, color and changed the font. We had one teacher 3 volunteers
